⚖️The Judiciary & Legal Path
“Upholding Justice, Defending Truth”
At Best Foundation International Basic School, we nurture the sharp minds that will one day sit on the bench as Judges or stand in the well of the court as Advocates. Our Judiciary Career Day focuses on the power of the law, the importance of ethics, and the art of persuasion.
📖 1. The Foundation (At Best Foundation School)
A career in law begins with the skills we sharpen every day in our classrooms:
- English Language & Literacy: Mastering the ability to read complex texts, write clearly, and build strong arguments.
- Public Speaking: Students participate in debates and “Show and Tell” sessions to build the confidence needed to speak in a courtroom.
- Social Studies & Citizenship: Learning about the Constitution of Ghana, the rights of citizens, and the structure of our government.
🛣️ 2. The Career Roadmap (The Journey to the Bench)
We help our students visualize the path to becoming a legal professional in Ghana:
- Senior High School (SHS): Focus on General Arts (Literature in English, Government, History, and Economics).
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB): A university degree focusing on the foundations of legal theory.
- Ghana School of Law (Makola): Professional training to be called to the Bar as a Solicitor and Advocate.
- The Bench: For those aspiring to be Magistrates or Judges, this involves years of legal practice followed by an appointment based on integrity and legal expertise.
🔨 3. Practical Career Day Activities: “The Mock Court”
During our Judiciary feature, we transform the classroom into a courtroom:
- The Mock Trial: Students take on roles as The Judge, The Defense Lawyer, The Prosecutor, and The Jury to solve a school-based “case” (e.g., “The Case of the Missing Library Book”).
- The Gavel Experience: Students learn the symbolism of the judge’s robes and gavel—representing order, authority, and fairness.
- Evidence & Logic: A workshop on how to distinguish between a “fact” and an “opinion,” a crucial skill for any future lawyer.
🇬🇭 4. Why This Path Matters
We teach our students that the Judiciary is the backbone of a peaceful society.
- Protecting Rights: Ensuring that every person, no matter how small, is treated fairly under the law.
- Integrity First: Emphasizing that a Judge must be incorruptible and honest—values we instill at Best Foundation from day one.
Traditional Day
“Proudly Ghanaian, Globally Minded”
At Best Foundation International Basic School, we believe that to go far in the world, a child must first know where they come from. Our Traditional Day is a vibrant, rhythmic, and colorful explosion of culture that brings the history of Ghana to life right here in Abura Dunkwa.
🎨 1. The Foundation: Culture in the Classroom
Our daily curriculum integrates Ghanaian values long before the festival begins:
- Our World Our People (OWOP): Students study the diverse ethnic groups of Ghana—Akan, Ewe, Ga-Adangbe, Mole-Dagbon, and more.
- Local Languages: We encourage the mastery of mother tongues alongside English to ensure students remain connected to their elders and community.
- Traditional Ethics: Teaching the Ghanaian values of Obuo (Respect), Nkabom (Unity), and hospitality.
🥁 2. The Experience: A Journey Through the Regions
On Traditional Day, the school transforms into a living museum:
- The Grand Durbar: Students dress in magnificent traditional cloths—rich Kente, hand-stamped Adinkra, and northern Fugu smocks.
- Rhythms of the Land: Live drumming and dance performances where students learn the Adowa, Agbadza, and Kpanlogo.
- The “Taste of Ghana” Fair: A culinary showcase where students learn the origins of local dishes like Fante Fante, Jollof, Tuo Zaafi, and Banku.
🏺 3. The Career Connection: Arts & Creative Economy
We show students that culture isn’t just history—it’s a modern career path:
- The Artisan Path: Learning about the global demand for Ghanaian textiles, pottery, and bead-making.
- The Tourism & Diplomacy Path: Understanding how our culture makes Ghana a top destination for the world, opening doors for careers in International Relations and Tourism Management.
- The Creative Arts: Highlighting how Ghanaian music and film (Lifestyle & Entertainment) are taking over the global stage.
🌳 4. Why This Matters
In an “International” school, keeping our roots strong is vital.
- Confidence: A child who is proud of their culture walks with their head held high in any international setting.
- Community Bond: Traditional Day brings parents, teachers, and local leaders together, strengthening the “village” that it takes to raise a child.
